Employment
If my employer transfers me to the United States, would this be considered an "international job transfer" for benefits purposes?
Yes. Any country other than Canada is considered "international" for policy purposes.
Can I make an unemployment claim under WALKAWAY if I quit my job?
No. WALKAWAY only covers events that are beyond the certificate-holder's control. Your employer must terminate you from your position and you must be eligible to collect employment insurance benefits in order for you to qualify for WALKAWAY benefits.
I'm in the military. Do my out-of-country assignments qualify as "international job transfers" for claim purposes?
Government positions that are known to involve international transfers are explicitly excluded from WALKAWAY coverage.
